  1. Alyssa Favro

This course is a foundational, thorough, and deeply impactful resource for anyone supporting survivors of sexual assault and violence. It offers a necessary, well-curated body of information for therapists, social workers, and those with lived experience alike.
I highly recommend it to anyone who works with – or anticipates working with – survivors. The course approaches the justice system through a flexible, non-rigid lens, acknowledging that it may or may not be the right path for every individual, while thoughtfully outlining alternative options. It also provides guidance on navigating the justice system in ways that aim to be least harmful and, when possible, empowering for survivors.
The framework is profoundly client-centred, empowering, and grounded in a high level of education and expertise. It supports practitioners in working with survivors in ways that are informed, compassionate, and responsive to each person’s unique needs. This course increases confidence in handling situations that require deep sensitivity and accurate information, helping to reduce the risk of further harm or retraumatization for those we support.

  2. Andriana Graham

Whether you are a fellow counsellor or a professional working in human services, law, education, or any field that does or may support survivors, this course fills a critical and often under-resourced area of knowledge. It offers a deep understanding of the many elements that shape decision-making, lived experience, and what it truly means to navigate the justice system, empowering practitioners to walk alongside survivors as they make informed choices that honour their unique journeys.

Deirdre, the work you have created and your ongoing contribution to the field of supporting those who have experienced sexualized violence feels increasingly poignant and vital. Through accessible delivery that honours diverse learning styles, thoughtfully prepared documents that meaningfully guide practice, and a grounded, compassionate lens, this course stands as a loving guide toward anti-oppressive, client-centered, and evidence-based practice and more just futures.

  3. Lory joly

This course has been an incredible experience. It covered a complex and layered topic in a current, researched based approach. The delivery offered time for meaningful individual and collective reflections around social justice from different lenses (the survivor’s, perpetrators’, justice system’s, practitioner’s…). The course allowed time to absorb foundational knowledge and understanding socio-cultural complexities. It also offered practical guidance for therapists (and other social justice allies) to support individuals in their healing journey, whether they are victims or offenders.
In addition, I learned about learning and unlearning. Deirdre creates magic in her groups. Not only she shares with humility her expertise, experience and research, but she creates a space where we could develop and grow restorative practices as we were learning.
I warmly recommend this course just as much for professional as personal growth.

  4. Jodi Bergman

Healing from Justice: Supporting Adult Survivors of Sexual Assault is an outstanding course. Deirdre, the course leader is wise, compassionate, and guides participants with care and sensitivity. The course provides thoughtful, practical insights and creates a safe space for learning about supporting survivors. Highly recommended for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding and skills in this critical area.

  5. Madeleine

Deirdre has created something truly special here. From the very beginning, this course felt like an invitation, not to perform or arrive “polished,” but to show up as you actually are. There was space to learn, to question, to reflect, and to speak honestly, without rushing toward certainty.
The care and thoroughness that went into curating the material is remarkable, so many resources gathered in one place, thoughtfully organized, and held with depth rather than oversimplification. The diversity of perspectives integrated throughout the course added real dimensionality, and the group discussions allowed those ideas to be lived with, challenged, and integrated rather than just consumed.
For me, access to the content alone was invaluable. I found myself repeatedly thinking, holy smokes—I can’t believe how much is here. The level of detail, nuance, and intentionality made this a resource I know I’ll return to again and again. The supervision time then became a kind of companion space, a place to metabolize what we were learning, to slow down, and to make meaning together rather than trying to hold it all on my own.
I would deeply recommend this course to anyone who is seeking education and humanity, those who want substance without losing soul, and learning that actually changes how you think, feel, and practice.
    Thank you so much!
